Are there really one million Michael Jackson fans?

It really is astounding that Michael Jackson has sold out 50 nights at the O2 arena. Over 1 million tickets sold in just a few hours.

A quick check on the official second-hand ticket trading sites – you know, the one’s that are for fan-to-fan sales – shows what a farce the whole ticket situation is in the UK.

How many tickets were bought by fans? I bet a large chunk of of tickets were purchased by people planning to make a quick profit. It would be interesting if supply did in fact outstrip demand, and the value of the tickets declined – Jackson Meltdown!

At the time of writing, mere hours after the tickets went on sale, Seatwave, GetMeIn and Viagogo have a multitude of tickets available for every night of the show.

How can so many people have been so stupid as to buy the tickets, and then realise they are already busy that night?!

And so much for a recession
