Twitter lost followers

Well, I was going to write an entry about how I’m growing to really like Twitter. The idea is brilliant; Sadly, the implementation is not.

Aside from the much publicised recent outages, IM support still being turned off and SMS simply not working for me in the UK, today I discovered that my slowly growing network of followers has all but vanished.

and I’m not the only one. Over a summize, many people are complaining about this today. Some people are speculating that it’s only the spammers that have been kicked off. Well, in my case this is simply not true. I had about 18 genuine followers, and had blocked half a dozen spammers. I now have only six.

Hopefully this is a temporary problem. If not, I can see users leaving in droves to the new Twitter rivals, Pownce and Plurk.

Yup, this has happened to me too. I added several people to Twitter over the weekend at Wordcamp UK, and they’ve all gone now. Similarly none of them are following me.

Absolute rubbish.

Me too! I lost 34 followers and I KNOW not that many were spammers! :(
