They Came, They Drank, They Ate

Pretzl Eyes So, we had a few friends round last weekend to celebrate mine and GastroGrrl’s engagement. Living out in the sticks, it was quite a journey for our urban-dwelling friends. Sensibly, they organised a party bus. Of course, this meant that world+dog all arrived at once, making it impossible to take coats, serve drinks and introduce people, with any effect. Not that it mattered, people mixed, drank, ate, drank, ate and drank.

We decided to do shooters to liven up the party, but were lacking all the necessary ingredients for a B52. So we invented our own drink - Tia Maria and Baileys, now known as the A523, in honour of the road into Macclesfield.

It was a fun night, and as many people pointed out, it was the one and only time we’ll get everyone over to Macc for a night out!

Of course, food played an integral part to the celebrations, and unsurprisingly, GastroGrrl has already described the catering in delicious detail

Sir Richard, did you get the letter?

An advert appeared in the Saturday edition of The Guardian, that’s bemused both myself and GastroGrrl. I can’t find any reference to it by Googling, and haven’t a clue what it’s about. It simply states:

Sir Richard, did you get the letter? what is the balance? 07.07.07

The wording straddles a symbol of the ying/yang.

Weird. Do I really need to wait until 7th July to find out what this is about?

Normal Service Is Resumed

My, my. It certainly has been a while since I sent out one of these highly impersonal global e-mails. Apologies for not staying touch. Hope I’ve not left it too long. Normal service is now resumed.

Blimey! Where does the time go? It’s March already. Seems like it was only last week that I was back in Sydney sorting out my worldly possessions to send back to the UK. Was it really November that I was there?

Well, I waited patiently for 10 weeks for my goods to arrive… but they never did. more »
